The UNDP led DER Sidr Working Group on Shelter held two field workshops in Bagerhat (9 March) and Barguna (11 March) on shelter issues. The workshops were facilitated by UNDP’s Shelter Specialist, Mr. Md Syed Sadrul Ameen, together with the Working Group’s Shelter Expert and Technical Advisor, Mr. Sanjay Mukherjee. Engineer Md Abu Sadeque, Director, Disaster Management Bureau also presented.
Over 100 participates, comprising of NGO and local government representatives involved in shelter repair and reconstruction at the field level, attended the workshops. The training focused on practical skills training, highlighting the use of local materials and proven building techniques which reinforced disaster risk reduction strategies.
