The Union Parisad (UP) chairpersons and secretaries placed a set of recommendations for ensuring better performance of the Union Parisads within the Learning and Innovation Component (LIC) framework and to establish accountability and fiscal transparency within the entire local government system. They made the recommendations at the three-day orientation sessions on operational manual of LIC at country’s six LIC districts -Sirajganj, Habiganj, Feni, Barguna, Satkhira and Narsingdi- from June 12 to 14. Held in a participatory and interactive manner, the stakeholders of UPs, at the sessions, also discussed the ways to implement the project properly and issues related to the local government system in Bangladesh.
