Nat'l dialogue on "Country Progress on MDG-7" held

A National Dialogue on "Country Progress on MDG 7" was held in Dhaka aimed at assessing the progress, identifying lagging targets and finding ways out and means to overcome obstacles hindering the attainment of the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) 7.

Speaking at the dialogue as chief guest, State Minister for Environment and Forests Dr. Hasan Mahmud laid emphasis on ensuring the food security as the country is facing challenges due to adverse impact of climate change. He also underscored the need for increasing the food production, developing distribution process.

The minister, in his speech also focused on a number of issues including challenges of sharing fixed amount of water/natural resources, regional water body management, marine conservation, Urbanization and infrastructural development.

Presided over by Environment Secretary Dr. Mihir Kanty Mazumder, among others, UNDP Resident Representative, a.i, Mr. Stefan Priesner, also spoke on the occasion.
