A training workshop and certificate distribution for retrofitting technicians of Mobile Air Conditioners under the National ODS Phase out Plan (NOPP)project was held in Sylhet last Friday, November 18th. The training was attended by 100 technicians from the greater Sylhet Division. The Director of DOE, M. Shahjahan was Chief Guest at the workshop and stressed the role of ODS related initiatives in the environmental quality improvement in Bangladesh and thanked UNDP for its continued support.
UNDP representative Dr. Sarwat Chowdhury spoke about UNDP's support to GOB under the Montreal Protocol related projects and how they relate to the greater Green development initiative in Bangladesh. It was highlighted that to fulfill the objectives of the Montreal Protocol, refrigerant CFC 12 are being phased out from Mobile Acs and domestic refrigerators; and retrofitted with environmentally friendly refrigerants. UNDP Project Manager Dr. Hirendra Das was also present and spoke at the workshop.
