Minister of Food and Disaster Management Visits CDMP

As part of reviewing the progress and strengthening of programme delivery Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, MP & Minister, MoFDM visited CDMP office on 9th September along with the Secretary, DMRD Dr. M. Aslam Alam, DG, DMB, Mr. Ahsan Zakir, DG, DRR, Md. Zahirul Haque and other high level government dignitaries. The relevant outcome specialists of CDMP presented brief summaries of the outcome wise activities highlighting the key achievements and outlining the challenges and way forward. Although CDMP is a complex project with multi-sectoral comprehensive approach there is room for accommodating changing needs as well as innovation and execution strategy which according to the Minister very few projects do.

It was revealed in the meeting that the scale of intervention to all unions are not same as CDMP is working with diverse local interventions to pilot the DRR/CCA model which addresses the local context and replicable intervention based on demand driven approach of the community. The Minister particularly pointed out the delivery pace of Local Disaster Risk Reduction Fund (LDRRF) as CDMP has received increasing resources from its development partners that should not be compromised with the quality of work.

He gave special emphasis to integration of local level stakeholders as well as community people from the very beginning of conducting CRA, developing RRAP and programme implementation followed by proper monitoring and evaluation towards ensuring sustainability. He brought up some special interests for further reinvigorating of monitoring and evaluation initiatives and a more robust effort to share the achievements to a wider audience including media. A very fruitful discussion was held among the responsible government officials and CDMP concerned specialists that came up with several critical recommendations for boosting the delivery with tangible results and impact on the ground.
