Norwegian Minister of the Environment and International Development, Mr. Erik Solheim, accompanied by Ms. Ragne Birte Lund, Norwegian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Mr. Lasse Bjorn Johanessen, Deputy Director General, South Asia Section, Mr. Ragnhild Simenstad, Communication Advisor and Dr. Atiq Rahman (Bangladesh Centre for Advances Studies) visited Char Kukri Mukri, Bhola this week to see first-hand the UNDP-supported climate change adaptation initiatives being implemented.
In addition, the Minister met with community members involved in the UNDP-supported Comprehensive Disaster Management Prorgramme`s (CDMP) Community Risk Assessment process which assesses and manages community-level disaster risk. During the visit, the Norwegian delegation met with project beneficiaries and a variety of community members including elected representatives. The Minister, on behalf of the delegation, stated that the Norwegian Government will extend their support to Bangladesh for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation initiatives in the future.
