National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), in cooperation with UNDP Bangladesh, organised a consultative workshop on its draft strategic plan focusing on women`s rights and violation against women at YWCA conference hall in Dhaka on Wednesday, February 2.
Discussants at the workshop emphasised on ensuring participation of youth groups in the process, engagement in policy reforms, reviewing discriminatory laws, and effective implementation of laws and partnership development with the potential human rights and women`s rights organizations.
NHRC Chairman Prof. Dr. Mizanur Rahman thanked all for their suggestions and recommendations on how Commission strategic plan can be improved and how it can have better role in the protection and promotion of human rights.
About 80 participants, representing different stakeholders, including women`s rights and human rights activists, NGOs, lawyers, students and teachers of law faculties of different universities and donor representatives, attended the workshop.
