Gender Training Status of Government Officials

The report includes an inventory/record of the officials of Government of Bangladesh who participated different categories of trainings and workshops under the Capacity Building for Gender Mainstreaming project. These are TOT on Gender, GAD Training, Trial Run and Gender Sensitization Trainings. During the project period, a total of 2780 (female 665, male 2115) Bangladesh Civil Services Cadres and other government officials participated in the above-mentioned categories of trainings and workshops.

Report on Gender and Development Training Workshop

This is a report of two gender sensitization training workshops for the officials of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MWCA), Department of Women’s Affairs (DWA), Jatiyo Mohila Sangstha (JMS) and selected staffs of three UNDP funded projects of MWCA: Entrepreneurship Development of Women (EDW), Capacity Building for Gender Mainstreaming (CBGM) and Gender Facility, Phase II (GF-II). Ms. Kamla Bhasin, an eminent Gender Expert of South Asia facilitated the workshop.

The report discusses concepts/issues of gender, gender roles and gender division of labour, patriarchy, men and masculinities, patriarchal double standards, gender relations, and it’s relation with development. It further highlights the output of the group works on gender related problems/constraints/discriminations in Bangladesh and the recommendations, reflections and evaluations made by the participants for their future work and on the workshop.

Review of Current Resource Allocation to the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs

The study report reviews the current resources allocated to the MWCA and explores whether current resource allocation (both financial and human) is adequate to carry out its mandate as the nodal agency for gender mainstreaming in the national level. The report also reflects the awareness and knowledge of the policy makers, especially those who are directly involved in the resource allocation process regarding the importance of adequate resource allocation for MWCA.

The report is the output of the workshop on PBA for Gender Mainstreaming in Bangladesh. The workshop aimed to develop a common understanding among the development partners about Programme approach as well compared to project approach. The report elaborates the concepts and issues related to PBA, gender mainstreaming in Bangladesh, donor harmonization etc. The report further exemplifies the process of operationalisation of PBA by MWCA. Ms. Barbara James, an international expert on public health, social & community development and project management, facilitated the workshop.

Report on Launching Ceremony and Workshop-Programme Based Approach for Gender Mainstreaming

The report is the output of the Launching Ceremony and Workshop on Programme Based Approach (PBA) for gender mainstreaming in Bangladesh. The report contains three parts followed by the workshop agenda and methodology. The first part includes the speeches of the Honourable guests from the government, UNDP, Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

The second part consists of the output of Working Session that discussed the Sector Wide Approaches (SWAp) experience in health and education sector and PBA for gender mainstreaming in Bangladesh. The final part concludes with the output of open discussion and the concluding remarks.

Study on Current Rules and Legislation Related to Business Women Empowerment

The study report examined the current policies and legislations, which affect the promotion of business/enterprises of women by identifying laws, legislations and policies and also related to women's economic empowerment, and their legal provisions. The report also highlights legal barriers, gaps and biases against women in business/economic activities, particularly biases against businesswomen in finance (collateral laws, introduction of moveable assets, land ownership, inheritance) or structural barriers preventing the visibility of women in the public domain such as markets, international trade arenas etc. Ms. Fawzia Karim Firoze, a legal & gender specialist prepared the report.

Report on ‘Conducting Scan of Donors and NGOs, Probable Development Partners for Implementation of the NPA for Women’s Development in Bangladesh’

Booklet on ‘Awareness Development of Women Migrant Workers’

Report on ‘Dissemination of Information on successful NAP activities for advancement of women’

Impact Assessment of the Circular issued on September 16, 2002 regarding Medical Treatment and Examination of Victims of Violence

The report illustrates the impact assessment of the circular issued on 16 September 2002 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (Gender Issues Office) outlining the procedures to be followed in all medical examination for women/children victims of violence by concerned doctors who are attending them in any Government/Government recommended medical hospital/facilities.

The report is the output of a cross sectional survey that was conducted among doctors from government and private sectors, as well as, administrators, who are involved in dealing victims of violence. The report also states statistical data on the status of the dissemination of the circular, adherence to the instructions outlined in the circular, attitude and practice towards it.

Professional Development of Female Teachers in Primary Education (Training Module)

Initiating Linkages between UNDP Bangladesh and Local Knowledge Networks: A Mapping of Women’s Rights and Gender Mainstreaming Actors

Gender Analysis Framework of UNDP Bangladesh Country Office

This Gender Analysis Framework (GAF) report states about the gender analysis of four thematic areas (Governance, HIV/AIDS, Poverty, Disaster and crisis prevention and recovery) and one area from operations (Human Resource) of UNDP.
